An annotated bibliography
is an organized list of sources used for research. The sources are usually
books, articles, Web pages, documents, and/or oral interviews. You need
to properly cite the source following either the MLA format,
the Chicago
Manual of Style format,
or the format required by the instructor of your class.
Each citation is followed
by the annotation, or in other words, a short (about 150 words) descriptive
and evaluative paragraph.
The purpose of the annotation
is one or more of the following:
to describe the content
and focus of the source,
to comment on the usefulness
or relevance of the source for the particular research, and/or
to evaluate the accuracy
and quality of source cited.
Most annotated bibliographies
provide a combination of summarizing and evaluating the bibliographic
source.
