Portfolio Assignments

The dance education major will create two professional portfolios during her senior year, one during the semester preceding her student teaching and one at the culmination of her experience as a full-time student teacher in the Pre K-12 public schools. Both portfolios are compiled in an electronic format ensuring the student’s expertise in converting video and audio recordings onto a CD, in scanning documents onto a CD, in creating hyperlinks within text, and in copying and transforming text into various media formats.

The portfolios also include course projects and papers selected by the student from her three- to-four year experience as a dance education major. Accompanying each selection is a one-page “reflection” paper in which the student has the opportunity to discuss how she has grown, how she hopes to improve, and how her experiences will guide her future. All portfolios are assessed using state and national standards for dance and dance education practices.
