Position:Columbia College in South Carolina invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Voice and Musical Theatre, a tenure-track appointment to begin August 2012.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach aural skills and applied voice, direct musical productions, and teach other courses as needed at the undergraduate level. Additional duties include participation in recruitment and auditions, advising, and curriculum assessment. A strong commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of scholarly and professional activities as well as serving on faculty and college committees are expectations for all faculty.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in music with professional experience in musical theatre is required, a terminal degree in music or equivalent professional experience in musical theatre, experience teaching musical theatre and voice, and expertise in classical and musical theatre styles is preferred. Soprano or mezzo-soprano with national or international performance experience is preferred.
The College: The Music program at Columbia College is housed in the Division of Arts and Communication Studies.
