POSITION SUMMARY:Administers all facets of a collegiate tennis program. Oversees daily operations of pool and administers swim lessons program.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Current lifeguard, first aid and CPR certification.
- Two years experience in athletics as a student-athlete, coach, or professional.
- Working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in word processing programs.
- Current South Carolina driver’s license.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for identification and recruitment of qualified student-athletes.
- Plans and implements daily practices in preparation for games.
- Provides direct supervision and proper technique instruction to student-athletes engaged in practice, games or activities directly related to sports participation.
- Schedules all home and away games.
- Sends contracts for all scheduled competitions.
- Drives team to and from competition sites.
- Manages team’s operating budget.
- Maintains inventory of all supplies and equipment affiliated with the tennis program and orders as needed.
- In conjunction with athletic trainer, plans and implements conditioning and weight programs for team.
- Reports all unsafe playing conditions to director of athletics.
- Represents the department at Admissions Open House events.
- Maintains membership in a professional organization for tennis coaches.
- Displays professionalism while performing all duties and responsibilities associated with Columbia College Athletics.
- Abides by all NAIA regulations including the Coaches Code.
- Assists in all facets of yearly fundraising event.
- Represents the department at Admissions Open House events.
- Hires and manages pool staff including lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Organizes registration and schedule for all sessions of swim school and other summer programs.
- Creates and mails all promotional and registration materials for swim school and other summer programs.
- Responsible for making $26,000 through swim program that is turned over to the general operational account for the College.
- Maintains pool schedule including open swim hours for campus constituents.
- Monitors swim program budgets and tennis operating budget.
Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.
