SUMMARY:
Performs a variety duties to maintain the grounds and facilities of Columbia College.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Ability to operate heavy equipment;
2. Mowing grass, trimming and edging grounds;
3. Pruning shrubs/trees and removing damaged leaves, branches and twigs;
4. Use of mowers, tractors and other hand and power tools as appropriate;
5. Sharpens tools and makes minor repairs on equipment as needed;
6. Plants, fertilizes, waters, uses herbicides and insecticides;
7. Snow removal, spreading salt, picking up litter, raking, bagging and burning leaves;
8. Cleaning of drainage ditches and culverts;
9. Repair fences, gates, walls, walks and outbuildings;
10. Uses carpentry, masonry and painting tools;
11. Requires lifting and moving equipment and supplies;
12. Wear protective clothing as required by work environment and/or government regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or General Education degree (GED).
- 1 – 3 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
