The Conceptual Framework is the rationale and organizing principles that guide the development of our curriculum and all of the teacher education programs at Columbia College. It is much more than just a document. The Conceptual Framework is our shared beliefs regarding how teachers should be prepared and educated. The Conceptual Framework document includes College and Unit mission statements, the essential beliefs of the unit faculty, and learner outcomes for all teacher education students. Our Conceptual Framework is organized around the theme "The Collaborative Professional." We define Collaborative Professional as an educator who engages in co-actions with school and community partners for the benefit of children and youth.
