Welcome to Columbia College
HSRA - Human Relations Student Association

The Human Relations Student Association (HRSA) is a student-run campus club that meets approximately once a month.  HRSA promotes a sense of community among majors in the Human Relations Department and helps raise awareness on issues within the Human Relations fields.  HRSA also exists to addresses student concerns and share information on relevant topics such as graduate school training and career options.  Recent activities have included sponsoring a guest speaker from the SC Youth Advocacy Center, donating food to a local women’s shelter, presenting a “Brain Day” to local 5th and 6th graders, and sponsoring the annual Clothesline Project to raise awareness about domestic violence.  All students, regardless of major, are welcome to attend HRSA meetings and participate in activities.

Waiting On the World to Change?
The Human Relations Student Association (HRSA) and Volunteers made it happen at the following events

Food Drive
The HRSA and Columbia College Volunteers made almost 300 sandwiches, gathered around 250 juice boxes, lots of canned goods, and oodles of kids’ snacks for the homeless, Sister Care and the Harvest Hope Food Bank!

February 2007

Clothes Line Project
HRSA and Spetrum sponsored t-shirt decorating to raise awareness about domestic violence. More than 150 shirts were decorated and displayed in front of and in the lobby of the Barbara Bush Science Center.

March 2007

Brain Day
HRSA members and other interested students went to St. Joseph Catholic School for Brain Day, a fun and interactive educational program targeted at 5 and 6 grades. Approximately 80 students learnt about the function and structure of the brain and nervous system.
