The University of Salamanca
Founded around 1218, the University of Salamanca is the oldest and most distinguished university in Spain, acting as the center of Spanish culture for more than seven centuries. Some of Spains most illustrious citizens have passed through its hallways, including Christopher Columbus, Miguel de Cervantes, Hernan Cortes, Fray Luis de Leon, and Miguel de Unamuno.
The city and the University of Salamanca make up a very rich and unique cultural mecca not found anywhere else in Spain. Almost daily, visitors can enjoy concerts, recitals, art exhibits, lectures, folk dancing and seminars featuring distinguished Spanish writers and members of the Spanish Royal Academy.
Columbia College offers semester and summer programs at the University of Salamanca. Students have the opportunity to develop and improve their Spanish skills, as well as studying Spanish history, literature and business. Also available are classes in Spanish guitar, song and film.
Tuition for the spring semester program at the University of Salamanca is the same as a semester at Columbia College. Cost for the summer program is $3900, which includes air and land transportation, room and board (three meals a day) and tuition.
