How to File the FAFSA,
Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Who is eligible to file the FAFSA?
As a freshman or transfer student applying for admission to Columbia College, you are eligible for a variety of financial assistance programs, including grants, loans, work study, and workship.

Students who desire to apply for financial aid at Columbia College must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). South Carolina residents must file the FAFSA by June 30 each year in order to be considered for the South Carolina Tuition Grant. The SCTG is awarded based on a number of factors, but the only way to know if you are eligible is to file by the June 30 deadline.

By completing the FAFSA, you are applying for federal, state, and institutional aid. This is a fair and equitable system devised by the U.S. Department of Education for establishing financial need. You should complete only one FAFSAfor each academic year. During the application process, you will have the opportunity to list Columbia College as the school you want to receive an electronic report of your results. This report is called the SAR, Student Aid Report.

The Columbia College federal code is 003430.

Completing the FAFSA is easier than ever. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Which FAFSA do you file?
For spring 2009 and summer 2009 admission, use your 2007 federal tax return and file the 200802998 FAFSA.
