"Cross Pollination" Exhibit Opens Sept. 6

(COLUMBIA, SC) Works by Greenville artists Patti Brady and Phil Garrett will be featured in an exhibit called "Cross Pollination" in the Goodall Gallery at Columbia College September 6 - October 8.  The exhibit is free and open to the public.  Gallery hours are Mon-Wed, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thu-Fri, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sat-Sun, 1-5 p.m.

The paintings, prints, and works on paper reference antique botanicals, bouquets, seeds, weeds, and abundant minutiae of natural forms. Brady's extravagant use of materials and applications full of drips, drops, stains, and pours in multiple layers contrasts with Garrett's more minimal and refined contemporary mark-making.

Brady holds a B.F.A. degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and was the recipient of a silver award in the 1995 California Discovery Awards. She has exhibited in California, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

Garrett has held solo exhibitions in various venues across the Carolinas and has pieces in more than 20 permanent collections from South Carolina to Hawaii. He has won awards in the Springs Annual Juried Exhibition, The Print Club of Philadelphia Annual Competition, and the S.C. Arts Commission Juried Exhibition.
