Clothesline Project Honors Victims of Violence

(COLUMBIA, SC) Students at Columbia College will participate in the national Clothesline Project Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on the upper floor and outdoor terrace of the Student Union.

Begun in Hyannis, Mass., in 1990, the Clothesline Project is undertaken each year in schools and communities across the country in honor of women who have been victims of violence. Participants are given an opportunity to design t-shirts with images and messages of love, strength, and hope for the victims -- some of whom may be their friends, their relatives, or even themselves. The t-shirts are displayed on a clothesline as a powerful educational and healing tool.

The Columbia College project is sponsored by the Human Relations Student Association. For more information, call 803.786.3687.
