(COLUMBIA, SC) Dr. Linda B. Salane, executive director of The Leadership Institute at Columbia College, has been named the College's Outstanding Honors Faculty for 2005. Salane was selected by the Honors Student Association, based on her participation in honors course work, projects, service activities, conference presentations, and leadership development. The award is presented each year to "the faculty member who best represents the spirit of honors teaching and learning."

Salane joined Columbia College in 1990 after holding positions at Converse College and the University of South Carolina. Her background includes work in women's studies, career planning and placement, student affairs, financial and institutional planning, academic affairs, strategic planning and assessment, and leadership development. She holds a B.A. degree in sociology, a master's degree in student personnel services, and an Ed.D. degree in higher education administration from the University of South Carolina.
