Columbia College is hosting a conference celebrating the 50th anniversary of full clergy rights for women in The United Methodist Church. “Jubilee Voices” is the brain-child of Dr. Vivia Fowler, R. Wright Spears Professor of Religion, and Rev. Carl King, campus chaplain, who saw a need for a regional celebration of this milestone for clergywomen who may not be able to afford the trip to a more nationally-focused celebration later this summer in Chicago. “Jubilee Voices” begins at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 11, and runs through 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 13. “Jubilee Voices” has attracted registrations from over 20 states.
115 clergy persons will be attending Jubilee Voices beginning tomorrow (Thursday) and concluding Saturday morning. Of the conference participants, approximately 60 will be staying on campus.
