Columbia College’s Goodall Gallery
to feature Mike Williams in One-Man Exhibit
COLUMBIA, SC: The Goodall Gallery at Columbia College in Columbia, SC will present a one-man exhibition of South Carolina artist, Mike Williams, entitled In the Round. The one-man exhibition will feature paintings with metal and steel sculptures created during Williams’ 16 year career as a fine artist. The exhibit will open November 3rd and continue through December 6th, 2006.
Well known for his wildly colorful expressive fish paintings and metal sculpture installations, Williams’ inspiration springs from the natural world and he derives his subject matter through outdoorsman activities such as fishing and hunting. The exhibit will explore Williams’ ongoing relationship with his subjects by showing various sizes of paintings and styles from early to mid and present points in his career.
Williams’ work can be found in the collections of The Columbia Museum of Art, Columbia, SC; Emory University, Atlanta, GA; The University of South Carolina (Sumter), Sumter, SC with works commissioned by Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC; City of Columbia, Columbia, SC; and La Vecchia’s Restaurant, Charlotte and Lake Norman, NC.
The Columbia College Goodall Gallery is located in the Spears Music and Art Center in downtown Columbia on North Main Street, 1301 Columbia College Drive. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5p.m., Thursday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For further information about exhibits please contact Jackie Adams at (803) 786-3088.
