Columbia College Honors Program
Receives Gift from Bank of America

Bank of America has presented a $25,000 gift to the Columbia College Honors Program. This gift is the final installment of a $125,000 pledge made to the College in October 2002.

“The Honors Scholars supported by Bank of America not only bring a level of intellectual energy to our campus, they also represent the brightest of young women who will play an important role in the economic future of our state,” said President Caroline Whitson. The Honors Program at Columbia College provides an enriched academic experience to outstanding students who are seriously committed to academic excellence. The program emphasizes the spirited exchange of ideas and development of leadership skills in a challenging classroom environment. Close contact with and individual direction from faculty help define the honors experience.

“In addition to supporting scholarships for academically talented and motivated students, the gift has also been instrumental in promoting and rewarding outstanding teaching and learning”, says Dr. John Zubizarreta, director of honors and faculty development. “Our honors students and faculty have a stellar reputation nationwide in the honors community, and the much-appreciated gift from the Bank of America has added greater support to the remarkable achievements of the program.”
