Columbia College Police Department Receives Top Honor from SC Law Enforcement Officers’ Association

July 17, 2006
COLUMBIA, SC -- The Columbia College Campus Police Department received the Santee Cooper Excellence in Law Enforcement Award from SCLEOA (South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association) on Wednesday, June 17, at the association’s annual conference in Myrtle Beach.

The award, sponsored by Santee Cooper, recognizes the overall activities and achievements of an entire law enforcement agency or department. The award recognizes the efforts of an entire team rather than those of an individual. Major qualifications of the award are: effort, innovative service to the community, efficiency and results.

“To be recognized by our peers at the state level is a huge honor for our department and Columbia College. I’m very proud of our officers and their diligence in making Columbia College one of the safest campuses in state,” says police chief  Howard Cook. Cook currently serves as the president of the South Carolina Campus Law Enforcement Officers’ Association.
