Alumna Launches New Book: Leading with Care

Leading with Care: How Women Around the World are Inspiring Businesses, Empowering Communities, and Creating Opportunity

Three CC students assisted with research!

Columbia College recently hosted a reception and book signing event for author and management expert Mary Cantando. In partnership with the humanitarian organization CARE, she has written a new book describing the lives of amazing women who succeeded in the face of difficult conditions. Her new book teaches how to lead through respect, care and sensitivity. An alumna and Trustee of Columbia College, Ms. Cantando engaged three Columbia College students as research assistants: LeAnn Rickard, Cheryl Cockrell and Diana Lynde.

CARE places special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

The author is donating 25% from the sale of each book to CARE. Learn more about CARE at www.care.org and learn about the book at www.leadingwithcare.org.
