Honors students Lindsay Johnson, Diana Lynde, and Gery Yaneva will join Dr. John Zubizarreta, Director of Honors, in presenting an invited workshop on "Students' Reflections on Online Reflective Writing and Other Strategies for 21st-Century Liberal Learning" at the prestigious annual convention of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, 21-24 January 2009, Seattle, Washington.
The AAC&U is the premier professional organization in the United States advocating for the value of the liberal arts in undergraduate education. The annual conference is attended primarily by higher administrators, other academic leaders, and faculty. Only a very small handful of undergraduate students have ever participated as presenters at AAC&U, and most have been Columbia College honors students.
At last year's conference, three of our honors students-Alex Bowen, Tara Dennis, and Hannah Hancock-were specially selected by AAC&U's new broadcast channel producers for featured telecast interviews. This year, AAC&U received over 250 proposals from its elite membership, and it accepted fewer than 80. Our students will lead a workshop with Dr. Zubizarreta on the significance of reflective learning strategies in promoting deep, liberal learning.
