announces eight new members inducted into Lambda Pi Eta.

Lambda Pi Eta was founded at the University of Arkansas in 1985. The National Communication Association established LPH as an affiliate organization and as the official national communication honor society for undergraduates in 1994. In February 1996, Lambda Pi Eta was inducted in the Association of College Honor Societies. Columbia College’s Sigma Gamma Chapter was established in 2004. Since then thirty-three members have been inducted.
Lambda Pi Eta seeks to: 1) Recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies (2) Stimulate interest in the field of communication (3) Promote and encourage professional development among communication majors (4) Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication (5) Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students (6) Explore options for graduate education in communication studies.
In 2007, the Sigma Gamma Chapter was selected as the national Chapter of the Year. This prestigious award was given in November 2007 during the National Communication Association’s Annual Convention in Chicago. To be eligible for membership, students need to have completed at least 69 s.h. with a 2.35 GPA in those courses, and at least 12 s.h. in Communication with a 3.5 GPA in those courses. Dr. Jason Munsell is the faculty advisor for the Gamma Sigma Chapter.
