Mary Lee Taylor (violin), Billy Shepherd (piano) and Dusan Vukajlovic (cello) have been called the "alternative chamber titans" and "the punk rock of chamber music." Yet, the Upton Trio's composer——South Carolina Philharmonic Concertmaster Mary Lee Taylor——is deeply rooted in the classics and has recently written a suite giving homage to Bach, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and others in her uniquely beguiling way.
 
Taylor’s works are surprisingly catchy and accessible. Drawing the audience into her world, she pushes virtuosity to the edge of its envelope and leaves listeners breathless and dying for more.
 
If ever there were a "don't miss" 21st century musical event it would be the Upton Trio at Columbia College. The name of their new upcoming CD on Albany Records is These Are Different Times.
