Jennifer Becker, of Columbia, S.C., will be presenting A More Beautiful Place, which is about drowning in sadness and having the power to pull oneself out. She believes “No matter what happens to us, we have to find a way to improve our state of mind. Happiness is a conscious decision.”
To Unname Them by Simpsonville, S.C., native Elyse Cox is a collection of viewpoints concerning the idea of deconstruction as a means of creation. She states “Many times we feel that we have to add to create something. However, what if we simply take away?” To Unname Them explores this idea and what it means to create.
Amanda Ling, of Piedmont, S.C., presents her senior piece with the intention of capturing the essence of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival while staying true to her artistic style. She feels this piece embodies the qualities she represents as an artist and also provides an expression of memories and stories of her past. She states “my piece, as well as our overall concert, will create a vast and unique visual experience.”
Chelsea Stackhouse, of Andrews, S.C., has choreographed Psychopathic Details. It is a personal work of art that portrays the many emotions an individual may encounter. These emotions may captivate the mind and soul and may influence paranormal activities to occur. This piece embodies three significant intelligence levels while exhibiting the true thoughts and feelings of an individual. She believes “sometimes our paranormal thoughts are unseen to the world.” The purpose of this piece is to force one to embrace one’s actual desires and become one with their surroundings.
Emily Woodard, of Manning, S.C., will be presenting her senior work. She states, “my dance is my interpretation of the challenges of fear. Through research and working very closely with my dancers, I have worked to create a dance that I hope will move the audience to challenge their fears as well.”
Tickets are $10 General Admission, $5 Senior Citizens, and Students are FREE.
