The Columbia College Concert Choir and Chorus
Invited to Perform in Carnegie Hall

Dr. Rebecca R. Johnston, music program director, and the Columbia College Concert Choir and Columbia College Chorus have been invited to participate in a May 2011 performance in New York’s historic Carnegie Hall. Join us in congratulating them on this honor!

“These choirs received this invitation both because of the quality of musicianship demonstrated by their performers -- a clear reflection of their exceptional director, Dr. Rebecca R. Johnston...and because of an initial recommendation given by other music colleagues who recognize that the musical quality of these ensembles is deserving of MidAmerica Production’s attention,” said Dennis J. Loy, Conductor-in-Residence for MidAmerica Productions. “It is an elite honor to be invited to perform in Carnegie Hall. These wonderful musicians not only represent the quality and musical excellence within their program, but they also become ambassadors for the College and the entire community.” MidAmerica Productions, Inc., is the country’s foremost independent producer of classical concerts in Carnegie Hall.

In the months ahead, the Columbia College choir and chorus students will be seeking community support to raise funds for the trip to New York City for their rehearsal days and Carnegie Hall concert. Please contact the Division of Arts and Communication Studies at Columbia College (803.786.3810) to find out how you might contribute to this wonderful opportunity for our talented students.
