Honoring the wishes of the late Guy Fleming Lipscomb Jr. (1917-2009), his family has presented “The Gift Bearer,” an original painting by Lipscomb, to the College. With the family’s permission, the painting was featured on the 2008 Christmas card sent to Columbia College donors and alumnae. It was the second time the College was honored to feature the distinguished artist’s work on a holiday greeting. Lipscomb is remembered as a modern Renaissance man, who’s long life encompassed a legacy of family devotion, athletics, science, business acumen, community service, and a passion for teaching and supporting the arts and education. Lipscomb was a cherished friend and benefactor of Columbia College, and his generosity brought important opportunities to the College.
