The Goodall Gallery at Columbia College is pleased to present a group exhibition entitled, “Past and Present: A Faculty Exhibition from the Fine Arts Center of Greenville County, South Carolina,” featuring a variety of works by former and current Visual Arts faculty: Jim Campbell, Katy Cassell, Bob Chance, Rod Fincannon, Greg Flint, Eliska Morsel Greenspoon, Glenda Guion, Donna Shank, Rebecca Stockham, and Susan Willis. A reception for the artists will be held on Friday, January 20th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Goodall Gallery of the Spears Center for the Arts. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

As part of the Goodall Gallery’s annual exhibition to feature arts educators, “Past and Present,” is an art education show featuring the Fine Arts Center of Greenville County, a unique educational incubator of creative talent. The upstate school was the first specialized arts school in South Carolina, established in 1974. After thirty eight years, the school continues to develop and serve an impressive group of students and alumni, along with many accomplished educators in arts areas that span Visual Art, Music, Dance, Theater, Writing, and Digital Filmmaking starting from the eighth grades.Acceptance to the Fine Arts Center is through an application and audition process based on talent, interest, motivation, and commitment to one’s own discipline.

Artist-educators featured in this exhibit represent former and current Fine Arts Center instructors from the Visual Arts program with varied artistic backgrounds, from painting and graphic design to ceramics and jewelry making, this show features the diverse studio arts training at the Center. While working hard as educators, these individuals also remain professionally practicing artists who seek inspiration for their creative process as well as their teaching methods.

This annual exhibition highlights art educators who actively pursue their own artistic endeavors, and showcases their efforts. This exhibition is an opportunity to view art instructors as their artistic self while appreciating their role and impact as educators.

The Columbia College Goodall Galley is located inside the Spears Center for the Arts at 1301 Columbia College Drive in downtown Columbia off of North Main Street. Gallery Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
