All signs lead to Columbia College! Once you arrive on campus, Fall Orientation 2008 will point you in the right direction.
We believe so strongly in the importance of Fall Orientation to your academic and personal transition to Columbia College that the Friday afternoon Welcome Ceremony and Orientation Group Session that follows are treated as your first day of class. In fact, Fall Orientation attendance counts towards your LA 100 (First Year Seminar) credit.
During Orientation you will have the opportunity to attend College Success Sessions to help get you on the right track with your studies and prepare you for new academic responsibilities. Fall Orientation will also help you get acclimated to your new community. At the Welcome Back Party and Student Activities Fair, you will have the chance to meet representatives from many of Columbia College’s 50+ student organizations so that you can discover the many involvement opportunities available to you. The Gestic Theatre Performance will prepare you for making good decisions, living with and learning from people different from you, and developing your leadership potential. The Galilean Service will introduce you to our religious heritage and its value in a liberal arts educational setting.
Socially, you will have the chance to get to know other members of the Class of 2012. In your Orientation Group sessions, you will share life stories, complete a community service project, and perform an original group skit. You will also have the chance to begin developing a significant relationship with your Orientation Leader (OL), an upper-class leader who will be a friend and mentor for you during your first year at C2.
