SCCDE Dance Resource Collection

(Almost) Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Dance...

...can be found in the resource collection at the South Carolina Center for Dance Education. And now, you can search the resource collection right from your computer!
Our dance resource collection has more than 1,000 items, including books, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, curriculum guides, advocacy materials, periodicals, and more.
All South Carolina residents ages eighteen and older are eligible to check out items at no cost. A valid South Carolina driver's license or other photo identification is required for first-time users.

How To Search The SCCDE Dance Resource Collection Online

Items included in the SCCDE resource collection are listed in Columbia College's Edens Library catalog. To access the library catalog online, simply follow these steps:
Go to http://www.colacoll.edu/edenslibrary/index.html


1. Click on"Find Books and More."

2. From the catalog use a keyword, title, author, subject, call number, or journal title search to view the holdings.

3. For titles held in the SCCDE collection, the location will state, "SCCenterDanceEd."  The status heading will state,

"check at SCCDE."

4. Once you have located the items you would like to check out, please contaft the SCCDE at (803) 786-3384 or wcook@colacoll.edu to find out if the titles are available and to arrange an appointment to pick them up. You may pick up your materials at the SCCDE office, located at 4810 Colonial Drive on the Columbia College campus.

If you live outside the Columbia area, the SCCDE can mail your materials to you. Returning the items via post is the responsibility of the borrower.
Items may be reserved in advance.

SCCDE Lending Policies

  • All items are checked out for a two-week period. Check out period can be extended upon request. An extension request may be denied if an items has been reserved in advance by another user.
  • A user may check out up to 10 items from the resource center per visit.
  • A fine of $.50 per day for books and $1.00 per day for videos and other items will be imposed for items that are returned after the due date.
  • Replacement of lost or damaged items is the responsibility of the person to whom the items are checked out at the time of loss/damage. The user is expected to reimburse the SCCDE for the replacement value of the lost/damaged item(s).
  • Borrowing privileges will be temporarily suspended until fines and/or replacement costs are paid to the SCCDE. Once the fines/replacement costs have been paid, privileges will be restored immediately.
  • Please rewind videotapes before returning them.

Funding of the Resource Collection

The establishment and maintenance pf the resource collection is made possible by grants from the SC Department of Education and the SC Arts Commission. in addition, some resource items have been donated by generous supporters.  Cataloging of the South Carolina Center for Dance Education Resource Collection was made possible by a grant from the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties, an arts organization that receives funding from the Central Carolina Community Foundation and the South Carolina Arts Commission.
