Who We Are and What We Do...
Since 1993, the South Carolina Center for Dance Education has provided resources and dance education professional development opportunities for educators and professional artists; encouraged dialogue and dissemination of information about dance; and facilitated the achievement of national and state dance standards.
The Center is a collaboration between the South Carolina Department of Education, the South Carolina Arts Commission, and Columbia College, serving the state with:
- consultant services for designing comprehensive dance education programs for schools and school districts;
- mentoring programs and advanced education opportunities for classroom teachers and dance specialists;
- extensive resource library and conference facilities;
- summer insitutes with graduate credit for K-12 teachers interested in incorporating movement, drama, and the arts within their classroom activities
Working in concert with statewide arts education initiatives, the SCCDE acts as a catalyst for affecting significant and systemic education renewal.
