Datang! offers you a brief, yet fascinating taste of contemporary
Indonesian art. The artworks are part of a private collection. The exhibition
consists of 27 works, predominantly oil paintings, drawings and prints,
by Indonesian artists, and 15 photographs and lithographs by foreign
artists residing in Indonesia. The show was displayed for the first
time in the Goodall Gallery at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina.

The art works in this exhibition truly reflect our globalized world
where the longest distances can be overcome in a matter of hours or
even minutes, and where ideas and concepts are easily transferred from
one culture to another. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if humans could
accept each other as easily and peacefully as artistic styles from opposite
