Dear Students,
On behalf of the Student Affairs staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2011-2012 academic year at Columbia College! Whether you are a first-year student, a new transfer student, or a returning student, we hope that this academic year will provide you with countless opportunities to grow intellectually, to develop your leadership skills, and to interact with the amazing faculty, staff and students who make-up our community of scholars.
A variety of resources are available on our web site, including the Student Handbook. I hope that you will use your Student Handbook as a resource to answer questions you may have about services provided to you as a student, resources available to support your academic and personal development, campus expectations, opportunities for involvement, and guidelines for effective decision-making as a member of the Columbia College community. The monthly and daily calendars located in the back of the book are valuable planning tools to use as you schedule academic projects and deadlines, as well as co-curricular meetings and events. Every effort has been made to ensure that this publication is a valuable resource for the entire campus community.
I also hope that you will visit the offices constituting Student Affairs during this academic year. Our goal is to provide a challenging yet supportive environment that encourages you to set and achieve meaningful goals, develop habits for academic and personal success, engage in the campus community, contribute actively outside of the classroom, and fulfill your potential as a Columbia College student and future alumna! We want to assist you in your journey to become your best self.
Best wishes for the academic year! If I can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
