Knox Hall offers eight single-occupant rooms and six double-occupant rooms in a cottage-style living arrangement. The ground floor includes a common living area and kitchen. The second level includes an additional common living area with a balcony overlooking the garden court below. Kneece Hall and Knox Hall are designed as a matching pair, facing each other across a private garden court.
Knox Hall was made possible by contributions from the Knox family of Columbia. Family members contributing include Marion A. Knox, Sr., a former member of the Columbia College Board of Visitors and a recipient of the Columbia College Medallion whose late wife, Rachel Spivey Knox, was also a recipient; Marion A. Knox Jr., a member of the College's Board of Trustees, and his wife Cathy; Barbara Knox Cobb, a former member of the Columbia College Board of Visitors whose daughter, Rachel Cobb McCutchen, is a 1992 Columbia College graduate.
Over the years, in addition to other contributions, the family has established at Columbia College the Juddie Chaplin Knox '10 Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Rachel Spivey Knox Endowed Scholarship Fund, and the E.C. Spivey Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Knox Hall opened in 2002.
